LIBRARY DIRECTORY FOR FACULTY
This Directory has been
compiled to make the mysterious ways of the Perkins Library clearer and to allow
you to contact the RIGHT person on the first attempt. Your comments are welcome
as we consider producing the next version.
RESERVES
Form at the Circulation Desk, or click here for
the printable version.
Your
materials or our materials.
Please allow two to three days for the item
to be entered in the OPAC. MAY circulate before, though.
BORROWING
whoever is on duty
Books go out to
you for the semester, on your DOANE ID CARD. If you send a student, send your
card. You may keep books longer by renewing, which is a process of responding
to our end-of-semester mailing. We will recall books from you after TWO WEEKS
if needed by someone else, as we will from a student. Journals do not circulate.
Exceptions may be made by the duty librarian for use in class.
ORDERING
YOU know your field. YOU are the person on campus who knows
best what you will use in class. Please do some ordering of materials appropriate
to a small college library. Do it early in the fiscal year. We'll send CHOICE
reviews on cards and "Best Books of 200x" to your attention. Forms are the ubiquitous
3x5 card. Available from the Library. Order from reviews or from the Choice cards.
Cataloging
WEEDING
YOU. And one of the librarians.
You are encouraged to look at the materials in your discipline and make recommendations
for removal of any information which is out of date.
BIBLIOGRAPHIC INSTRUCTION
It
would be great if we could have two days notice. Please plan to be on hand to
relate what the librarian says to what you are doing in the classroom. It is even
better if we could be included in your initial course planning in order to offer
our wares.

24-hour turn-around on fax copies of journals they hold. Available are alphabetical
and subject lists of Doane's
journal collections.

A complete listing of this years library hours is available here: Hours
COPIERS
We
have two copiers that run at 5 cents per copy. (Use the Service Bureau for large
jobs.) They can be fed coins or a security card may be purchased. Some divisions
or disciplines have purchased cards, which are kept either at the Library or in
your department. Both machines make transparencies, which are available at the
circulation desk for 35 cents. We ask you to observe copyright regulations, especially
with regard to what you put on Reserve, and ask also, for that reason, that you
do not require us to make your copies.
